temperature switch, and wiring conumdrums

hey yall, a little bit of help if possible? just put in temperature switch connected too, an after market fan, on fan, and relay,,, there are red, black, blue, and a smaller tan coloured wire. i presume red= pos, black =neg, tan =ignition,, blue, buggered if i know? on temp switch, there are 2 terminals, with nothing in diagram or on unit, to say which is positive or neg?? if i knew this i might be able make sure it works?? any help would be gratefully received, thanks

I'm a little confused too?
The fan has 4 wires? The same as the relay?
Is the swicth just a manual toggle switch or when you say temp switch do you mean it's triggered by a heat source (presumedly that it gets attached to)?

Here's a wiring diagram of how to hook it all up (just disregard the 2nd fan and lh relay for the manual switch). I'm presuming the relay is a normal unit that has the numbers on the bottom (next to each pin)... they corrospond to the numbers in the diag |

hey thanks mr void, I am unable to view your diagram? dont know why?
it is the relay that has 4 wires, red black blue and tan, with the tan being smaller,,the actual fan only has 2 wires, and i bet ya $100 bucks these two wires are positive and negat |

The temp switch will be on or off so polarity doesnt matter, when its on the power runs to the fan and when its off it doesnt so the tabs can be connected either way. The relay is a heavy duty switch. It lets you put the switching on the shortest run from the power supply to the device, and the control where you like it.
Two (bigger) wires will be the feed from the battery to the relay, and from the relay to the +v |
