Hi.

I have a 23-3040 WW on my 186 red. I have searched long & hard, & cannot find where/what this is from. For the record, in my searches, the following was found (90% from Dr Terry!) and may be worth adding to the Stromberg holdenpedia listing T ;

23-3035 HT & HG 186 S manual
23-3036 HG 186 S auto
23-3039 Bedford 300 ci 6 cyl 70/71 (Single Barrel)
23-3041 LC GTR 2600 S, Oct 69 to July '71.
23-3045 HQ 253 V8 from July '71 to Oct '72
23-3046 earlier carb for an HQ 253 manual
23-3064 the later carb ot the 23-3063 (Nov '72 onwards)
23-3063 HQ 253 V8 Auto Nov 72 to July 73.
23-3078 WW is off a 253 Man V8 HQ from 73 to 74.
23-3093 HJ/LH/LX 4.2 V8 Manual Jan 75 to Jun 77
23-3094 Same as 23-3093 but Auto
23-3098 4.2 (252) V8 auto in HX & LX from July '76 to April '77.
23-3111 HX/HZ/LX/VB 4.2 V8 auto from May '77 to Mar '80
23-3112 HX/HZ/LX/VB 4.2 V8 Manual May 77 to March 80.

But I digress. I am hoping someone can confirm origin and what jets (currently say 69 on the side)would best suit a 186 red with a manual box, stock except for headers & HEI.

PS Dr Terry mentioned he had a book from 1981 listing all the WW Bendix Strommys..... ;)

Thanks for any help you can give... I hope to walk into the auto shop & request a rebuild kit by code or Holden model....

Cheers.

Hi Ozchevy. Is that what my carb is off? I have a transplant 186 where an old grey used to sit in the EJ. Just wondering when you say also, I am not sure what the main use was. Cheers mate.

Hi Harry, I think the best source of info is most likely going to come from Warren, or Byron. I just know it was standard equip on a mates HK Monaro back in NZ. He even had a Blue coloured GMH Parts book for the HK showing the WW-2 as with 186-S motor.

Hi HarryO.

The 23-3040 WW Bendix-Stromberg suits late HT & all HG 253 V8 with manual transmission.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Thanks Dr Terry. I purchased an SB651 tune-up kit, which stopped my leaking gaskets and high pitched air leak sound! But, as is so often the case, with every problem I fix, a new one arises.

When I took the choke cover off to replace the gasket, zzzii
