Just wondering if anyone can help.

I have a VS V8 injected engine in my HZ ute and i want to convert to full time LPG. The LPG bloke rekons that i can not get rid of the fuel tank as it needs the fuel to start. it wont start on lpg. (im not going liquid injection)

this doesnt sound right? as there is cars from the factory that are LPG only. and they dont have fuel tanks.

How do i get around the start up on lpg? so then i can tell my lpg installer that it can be done.

There is only one lpg instaler around here so i cant take it somewhere else.

I am going to remove the fuel tank so i dont want to have to start it on petrol.

Any help or sugestions would be great.

cheers
jason

I've got a VN-VS 5litre in my HZ and it starts first go every time. Mine will be slightly different as it has a Redline maifold and HEI dizzy but none of that should matter EXCEPT that the distance from the mixer to the ports is longer with the factory in

My VS stato and dads VT both start on petrol before running on gas both of thes

GasResearch sell a gas throttle body that replaces the original throttle body. You have to fit an external IAC valve.

If you dont mind playing a bit go to www.moates.net and do some reading. For not many $ you can buy an ECU emulator and start playing

Jason

I have had gas powered cars for the last 19 years and all of them have started easily on gas. I lived in the Snowy Mountains for a few years with one of them and it still started even when covered with snow.

The factory system in the VP that

I have to crank for about 10 seconds to start my straight gas engine. That is after sitting for weeks or even months, and not pressing the primer button. I do it just to give the oil some chance to get started.

my dual fuel injected motor would start on gas but it was harder to start when cold, which indicates extra stress on the cranking sytem. but the injectors were turned off when switched to gas so dont see a problem there.

The problem is that it is hard for an engine to develope enough vaccuum initially to open the gas carby or second stage regulator without the kick from the fuel. Most systems just keep the power on to the injectors for the first few seconds of ignition. Y

You don't need petrol to start gas cars. If you have an impco converter model L then you need to look on the side towards the front face plate. you will notice a black cap. 7/16th. Remove this cap and place a 1/8th brass fitting straight fitting tail barb

Gday mate,
Ive got a 253 in my HG prem, on dual fuel. Ive found that turning the ignition to ON a couple of times before start injects enough gas for ignition. Im no expert here - but I believe there is a solenoid which allows an inital hit of gas for

Boyle’s law states that, at a constant temperature, the volume of a given gas is inversely proportional to the pressure of which it is subjected to.
