Hey guys just wondering if you can help identify an engine Im going to buy. It's a 308 aussie 4 speed pattern, just wanting to know what year it is to suit.

I think that is a HQ Statesman engine.

why not statesman?, a good chunk of the ones i have wrecked have been M40.

Statesmans of this era have an 11 in front of the engine number eg 11QT...(308) or 11QR...(253) or 11QL...(202) or 11QU...(350).
