what sort of 4 sp is it?
the reason is that from memory GM (aussie 4 sp) spigots are 13 mm, and toyota (i.e. celica 4 sp are 15 mm.)
hence, a GM box imput shaft into a toyota Spigot is noisy as it floats under minimal load.

more than likely flywhee
Old holdens brought on the spot, quick decision, cash paid.

big ends are worse under light power/throttle. mains are worse under load. check the flywheel cover under the gearbox a loose one on my car gave a similar noise, the flywheel was hitting it under certain conditions.
