Gday guys, Does anyone know where I can score some GTS 1/4 panels for my HG ute. I'm referring to the sexy ones with the 3 slots in the side. I know they are probably rare as rocking horse sh*t these days but dreams are free! I'm not having much joy on ebay.
Any help?
Tom.

they are known as front guards, not 1/4 panels, might help your search. In the US they are front fenders and in Britain, wings. 1/4 panel is generally used for the rear guards. Technically they are front quarters but nobody uses that term.

See if you can find some good standard guards and get Rare Spares flutes welded in. It'll be cheaper in the end.

Cheers guys, I did find some flutes, they are a bit rough but I reckon they would clean up all right. How clean can they get the welds for a job like that? And would it be ok to weld them into my current front guards? I've already got those ones so why b |

yes you can weld them in, but if you want good ones, maybe compare the ones you have to rare spares....no point in putting **** ones in...do it properly the first time.

My panel beater wont weld in the rare spares ones, he says they are inferior- thinner than the holden stuff and harder to get right? Is this true? So hes chopping up a far gone GTS guard to weld into a Kingswood one in good condition...

im pretty sure the gauge of the metal that Rare Spares press them out in is thicker than holdens panel metal...im not 100% sure, but as for them fitting, i have seen many finished examples and they look good!

Ultimately If I was doing a concourse or original resto I would look at putting the rear lower whole section of an original GTS guard into a Kingswood guard. If it is not an issue on those terms, and just for looks, then I would have no problems fitting t |

all rares panels are .9mm, all Pre HJ holden steel is 1.2mm thick, but rares panels are designed to harden once heated by the welding process, more carbon used when the steels made. same process used in new car panels used today, makes them lighter & sup |
