I have a couple of Brock valley covers, but as far as I know they dont have a different casting number to the normal one - they are just machined out.

Hi Byron.
Can you give me the casting numbers of those 'Brock' ones Byron.
Also, do you have any HT/HG or HQ/HJ inlet manifolds (2 or 4 barrel). If so, can you record those numbers as well.
Thanks, in advance.

A big B on one end! Terry, will do. I have a HT/G 308 valley, but I threw all the 253 ones away. I know one of the inlets came off an ex VK Police car. It had the windage tray and manifold but normal black heads. Will look.

Terry I just had a look, and all the "thrown out" 253 ones are still in the scrap pile, so here is what I have: HT/G 308 - 2812094 (I have 2 of these with the threaded hole to the passenger's side of the thermostat); HQ 253 - 9928683 (I assume th Edited by user Wednesday, 22 August 2007 6:55:06 AM(UTC)

They do have bigger valves and minor port work, but the B is how you pick them. Not all "HDT" engines had them. I think all the Brocks did, but some of the Police cars had the manifold, windage tray etc but not the B cast heads.

New question, (sorry to be a pain). Is there any difference in the brock cranks and blocks compared to standard? Only reason I ask is that the heads I have bought also come with a block, cranks pistons and rods,(one set has the wide 'X' on them)flat top |

Cranks are the same, blocks differ (IIRC) only by the engine number. The X rods are standard in carbied black motors pre A9L (carbied VL Group A), but these were a narrow X - the wide X is an L34 rod.
