Hi,

Over the years Ive read a few times on these forums that you can still actually buy a brand new ignition barrel for HQ-WB (which would fit my LH), from Holden Parts.

So... I've finally given my local holden dealer a call, and they say no, you can't get them. Obviously you can, else people wouldn't say that they've done it. I don't think this particular dealer tried real hard, given the short time I was on hold.

Can anyone tell me a Holden dealer who will actually supply these? I'm in Brisbane, so would prefer local, but will look elsewhere. I'm not real happy with the aftermarket ones, so would like to try the genuine ones.

Cheers,
Jason.

James - do you know if they are the genuine article, a rare spares product, or the "Nice" branded product?

No idea, just found the description on their site, they may not be in stock even, give them a call. A new lock thats average quality may be better than a worn 20+ year old one. I presume you need it to pass rego?

James - nah, not needed for rego... You could start the Torrie without a key, so I figured its time to fit a new one. (Once you get past the alarm, kill switch, clublock, and the fact that it almost never gets left anywhere... am I paranoid? Maybe...)

jason, u will find the key harder to pull out of a new one compared to your old barrel and key, for the simple reason your old one is 30+ years old and has had 30 years of the same key going in and out...u will find over time the Nice/Rares ones will be e

Ignition switches are still available new from Holden. Maybe that is what they bought and got it confused with ignition barrel when talking to you.
