oh i say everybody, my head is spinning, as too all this talk bout diffs?
what i would like to know is the following>>
what came out with 9inch diffs?
what came out with 10 bolt diffs
how does someone know what ratio a diff is?,eg is it stamped on the casing? or come with a cd rom?
How would you know if a diff is ok,? without having it running in the car?
do all good diffs from v8,s have 10 bolts?
all the imfo you can tell me about diffs, in the one easy to read posting, will be muchly appreciated.

9" is a F#rd diff. XY-XC, some early F100 plus heaps more. Holden 10-bolt is from:

V8 HQ-WB;
5litre VB-VK;
A9X;
VB 6cyl rally car.

Chev 10-bolt is from 5 litre and bigger HK-HG except some early HK GTS's and other HK 307 like Brougham, Kingswood

cause i found i cant use a AU rear axle for transit, so now i am looking for a 10bolter, and had to know where they came from?
then see if i can adapt axle to transit? cause of width?
are the diffs out of vn> and onwards, are they st

Borg Warner 78 diffs are quite strong enough..and easy to get.

Is this for a Ford Transit van?

yes fasteh,
it is a 98 ford transit, i needed a good sized van,,and it is the only one around..
old bedfords, were just too old, and no power steering, etc,
so it has 308t400 in it now, and it dosent look like a ford now, trust me on that.

Why are you looking for another one?
Is it broken or are you looking for different diff ratio or dont you think it will be strong enough for a V8??
A lot of commercial vehicles came out with pretty strong diffs as st

hi sandman,
it is the original diff in the transit, problems are as follows,
drum brakes,
ratio incredibly low,
cant get good wheels for it, at all,, they have to be made!
cant get higher ratio diff for it, and cost of conversion is incredible, and
more than basketcase than a bear!
