on the side of the block it has 201

and the engine No: v0211sdn

if this dont help tell me how to check (im not pulling the sump off)

If you an grab the number at the rear of the block on the passenger side....

Once you have this you can tell if it is a 305, 350 or in between.

hi can you tell me what to look for as its at a wreckers it was in a burnt out comaro and he only wants 500 for it but il only get it if its a 350 so if you can tell me il go look tomora and i mite by it thanks

you have to get the casting numbers on the back of the block
you can view this while engine is in engine bay (top of bellhousing on passenger side (for RH drive).
you must get these numbers first, even then, the crank could be changed, changing CI.
But
Old holdens brought on the spot, quick decision, cash paid.

its a 305 ci with 4 bolt. so the net says. what do you meen diff crank im told the 305 and 350 have the same crank and rods just the holes are bigger on the 350 ?(holes being cyls) ha ha .


ps how hard is it to get a hq on the road in vic with a 454

I intentionally left out the 265 from 1955, as it has different engine mount locations to the later motors.
Some of the early 1957 - 59 283s have the same mount set up, and are now highly prized for original 57 - 59 chevy restos.

so if i by the 305 can i just bore it out to 4.0 or over, and make it a 350 or 360 or what ever. do i need to change the heads or intake?

HI ALL 305 CRANK IS TO LIGHT IN THE COUNTER-WEIGHT FOR 350 BALANCE
COULD PUT SLUGS OF HEAVY METAL IN THE CRANK COSTS ?????

A 305 and 350 crank are definitely not the same. That would be like saying a 253 and 308 crank are the same.

That is probably true. My reference was to the stroke, but as you say they would most likely be counterweighted differently.
