Sorry about the mistype. It's actually 54 XW8 manual. 9 Acacia, 19 Pagewood, 16 Dandenong and 10 Elizabeth. These are counted off the original Holden records.
The 58 was misread off the 158 auto column.

Thanks Byron.....there's plenty of mis-information out there. I also heard that one of the XW8 manuals had been stamped incorrectly from factory, it got M41 instead of MC7 on the tags. Would that affect the final numbers??

Probably not as the records should show what was put in it, not what got stamped, but anything is possible. It may not have actually been fitted with an MC7 either, just the hump. I have heard of a factory 307 powerglide HT with original log books that ha

Is it possible to find out how many HQ XW8 manuals are left?.....or how many have been recorded on the Monaro Register. I would expect that a lot of them were broken up for doner cars for 2 door manual rebuild projects.

I saw one that now had a 202 in it, the owner did sell it a while ago.

But all this talk is about the rarest model, now I would not consider the manual and auto to be seperate models, correct me if I am wrong, so you would have to include all XW8s if y

Hi Guys.

Good point Warren. AFAIK the only time that the auto version was a separate model, was in the EJ to HR series. Also at some factories the EK auto was a separate model.

What I mean by that is that the 225M (manual Special) & the 225 (auto Sp

Warren….Yes it is a good point the XW8 manual was not a separate model, which leads nicely to the next question. Why did GMH stamp MC7 onto the Body ID plate of Melbourne and Sydney built cars even though the manual was the standard model? I have seen tha

Warren is right, that the manual isn't a separate model, meaning the XW8 total is what you need to look at. But wasn't the original question (on another post) which is the rarest 4 door GTS? Not accounting for individual colours, the rarest is arguably a

Byron....No L30 or MC7 on the plate, perhaps Adelaide thought the GTS350 sedan was a model and not an option and the other plants knew different. Try the link.

in the two doors, there as 4 levels of the monaros, the GTS is the top of the line...but I always love how people seem to mix this up. Oh!!! I have a GTS Monaro.... real

Well written Mr_scrap_metal. HQ Monaro also had a trim code ending in Y which indicates it was optioned with a cloth insert.

Very surprised to hear the Monaro club bagging a GTS/4(Matt page 2.) When Im out driving my GTS/4, I have never had it referred

Weve all missed plenty of cars we should have bought, a few years back (maybe 6 or 7 I guess) I was hunting for a HQ coupe, advertised in the local trading post (Adelaide) was a HQ GTS/4 genuine 350 manual. I was not bothered with it as was looking for a

Mr_scrap_metal, I think you are off the mark when you say that to be a GTS it has to be a 350, the GTS is also a 253 and 308. In the HK/T/G there is also a 186s.

Pete.
