Hi folks, i am buying a VP single spinner Borg Warner 78 diff.308 from a "wagon".. and was wondering if someone can tell me exactly the width of this diff and the width of my HG Panno Banjo diff please? As a comparison.... I want to know what size / width wheels i can run under my guards, and also if the wagon diff is any narrower than the VP sedan or any axle strength differences ?.. i have spent all the night reading the posts and cant seem to pinpoint the real info that i want... i have learned that this diff will be very strong and suitable for my 307 Chev mild requirements and all at a very low cost $120.00 Diff...$70.00 Brackets welded....$30.00 donor drive shaft..( already have the turbo 400 shaft and yoke ).. then just my brake booster mod and the cost of the driveshaft cut and reweld/ rebalance / shorten etc...? I hope that all up it will come in close to $350.00 maximum...? Its gotta be good value even if i crack $450.00 i think. And spare parts everywhere for when my 383 380 hp engine goes in..lol ( I wish ) ... thanks to everyone for helping me out ...i love to learn about all of this diff stuff.... even the wreckers dont know what you guys know..thats cool ! Cheers, Anthony.......................

Mostly you cannot see when a diff housing is bent unless it is real bent. It shows up in abnormal tyre wear and even bearing/seal problems. A good wheel aligner should be able to pick up a bent diff housing in a 4 wheel alignment.Beyond that it is a speci Edited by user Thursday, 13 September 2007 11:25:21 AM(UTC)

We fitted a VP Commodore diff under the rear end of a HQ Holden ute, the brakes took a bit of doing but with the help of the guys here we were put on the right track. We also used the VP Commodore front disc mounted to HQ disc brake stubs.

Just ask any quality diff conversion place. AFAIK the axle tubes bend like bananas when welded.
