A few posts back you said it would be generally too expensive to replace a Holden V8 with a chev. What would these costs be........the engine mounts are different, radiator hoses, extractors, the sanden aircon definitely a prob...... my vechicle hz tonner

Not too expensive, just more expensive than stroking the 308. Plus in a HZ its much more difficult to register a Chev (Engineers report etc), making a stroked 308 an easier prospect. Probably the dearest part (apart from buying the Chev) is the radiator. |

yea , I see what you mean, I did my 3 core radiator last year. If you fitted a oil cooler .... would this make up the difference I wonder....? Because as we know lpg does run a bit hotter too.
Does the Holden starter motor fit the chev bl

Chev has radiator spouts on opposite sides so you need a new radiator. Oil cooler helps but not enough. Chev starter motor is different and on the other side.

No one needs a brand new radiator if they have a good Holden V8 one...
How about getting the inlet and outlet swapped from side to side for around $60
Grab a shrowd, good fan and a seperate oil cooler.
Give it a go.. Worked for me several times.

Hmmm. I've never had an iron headed 350 Chev cool properly with a 3 row HQ-HZ conventional radiator. As a 307 or 327 they are not too bad, but as 350 or bigger they seem to be real steamers. Holden saw this in HQ and fitted 5 row radiators. Plus from memo |

Had a 400 Chev which ran a bit tropical in my HQ ute with 3-row (unshrouded). Flicked the five blade in favour of two 10" fans side by side, and was far superior. Just had them handraulically activated. Open road, both off. In town pottering about = 1 |

Geez. My HJ with mild 350 and 3 row used to get very warm (over 220F). Cleaned the radiator out (professionally), used visocous fan and shroud. Still got over 220F on hot days, and boiled when towing or driving over 100kM/h. Changed to new 4 row with twin |
