hi byron, bought the rusty ute in the paddock yesterday
took my tools, fitted a new battery, started as soon as the bowls had fuel. a very good motor, no smoke or noise. i drove it around the field, rebuilt 4 speed and new clutch too. it had a 600 holley which appeared fairly new and receipts for a rebuilt dizzy.nice set of 5 spoke jellybean mags too. I only tried first, second and reverse, but very smooth and no shifter jamming
as you requested, here is the engine number for you to see if it is ok to repower my 1974 HQ styleside : QT 204XXX, build plate on ute 2/78

p.s. not as rusty as i thought, mainly front guards, bonnet and front panel. got all those, so might just replace them, fit an old 253 and trimatic from a 1 ton i wrecked and sell it on

It will be a 4spd block, so youll have to keep the 4spd or trimatic or aftermarket. TH350 or 400 wont fit.
