does the compliance for emissions fall upon the engine or the vehicle
ie will a non canistered red HQ V8 engine be passed or failed if installed in a WB
or will a blue WB V8 engine be failed or passed if installed in an HQ without the canister and pollution lines being fitted
pollie and pollution are starting to mean the same thing to me ...

Its the later of the two, chassis or block.
So in your scenarios, both will fail.
However, a red HQ block running blue head etc, doesnt need pollution gear in a HQ.

OzJason is correct. And there is another quirk that is interpreted wrongly in NSW. You also have to fit ULP filler neck and Cat to an earlier vehicle if you use an ULP engine in an early car. Strictly this is wrong as the ULP requirement belongs to the ve |

This is an interesting point, although I disagree with you on the cats. Surely the emissions from the exhaust, as measured at the tailpipe, are a result of engine output, this would include the cats.

I'm only going by what at least 2 x Engineers have told me. Apparantly the ULP requirement is a body requirement, not an engine requirement. In the end it doesn't matter as it's enforced as an engine requirement.
