hi there just looking for some advise i have mild 383 chev with mechanical fan and stock fuel pump .i am thinking of changing to electric fan and holley blue fuel pump to gain some power .is it worth it?any suggestions would be appreciated

This is a good topic- The problem with an electric fan is- yes they do save power, however they normally switch in once the motor gets hot/ warm. If you put a clutch hub fan on then you do save some power but its self regulating as the air passing over it

what might be the net gain of HP for doing such an expensive conversion
what money to horsepower ratio for the conversion
just keen to know

i already have the holley blue pump and my mate has a spare regulater .a new au [i think] fan with shroud costs about 250 so if i can get a small gain i reckon its worth it.any idea what sort of gain i would get ?

I dont think youll get any hp increase out of a Holley blue. ALl itll do is stop fuel starvation at maximum rpm. And gain from the loss of the mechanical accessory will probably be lost in additional alternator drain. The electric fans will gain you hp an

its a hk brougham with a standard chev radiater thats been recored recently i think it has 170 thermostat .it has standard fan and with this combination it does;nt get hot even in traffic .

An electric fuel pump is only really worth it if you always run very hard. Mechanicals are actually very effective and efficient. If the engine is running harder, the pump is sending more fuel, so is keeping up. With an electric, there isnt the direct

I know what your saying.
I never had any dramas with overheating chevs in Tasmania - simular to NZ.

But, when you go north on the big island, it really tests things out
