have a hx auto 6cyl. the brake pedal is nearly hitting the floor. my back brakes are ok. car seems to lock back brakes when i put pressure on them. front discs and brakes are fine as well. what could be the prob.

Hi Guys.

HZute-efi-VS5L thats not necessarily correct. Obviously, Alans rear brakes are working , but the fronts arent. That could be many things. Air in the front, because calipers are on the wrong side & wont bleed fully. M/Cyl could be stuffed or wh

checked for brake fluid leakage on the front disks or around the master cylinder? as the system is a split one the front fluid chamber could be out of fluid and the rears would still work.
Also check for stuff like jammed pistons on the fronts or splits

Try pump the brake, if it gets higher and higher each time theres most likely air in the system.. bleed the brakes starting from the closest wheel to the mastercylinder.
Check your fluid level.. purhaps it got low at somepoint. They do this as the shoes

Oh and to be sure of the back wheel cylinders are leaking or not. Take the wheel off then take the hub off and look inside. If there is a lot of damp looking dust (brake dust)then its prob leaking.

i had a problem with my hq utes brakes disc drumbs set up were the pedal would be solid one minute then go almost to the floor after trying everything and talking to so called experts turned out the axle housing was so worn it allowed the axle bearing a

If you had air in the lines & as you said in an earlier post "no work has been done lately", you may still have a problem. Where did the air come from ?

There may be a problem in the rear wheel cylinders or m/cyl. Or you have boiled the flu

also check the front wheel bearings are in good condition and well greased bad bearings or worped discs can cause pad knock back cheers
