any cable shifter like this one can be mounted as far forward or backwards as you like as the constraints are only the cable length. I have one of these set up in my XM coupe and was easy to install with only a 10mm (from memory) hole to drill.

hey fred, i was lookin at these floor shifters, and then found the electronic push button shifters, mounted on my dash,,bit more expensive, but no more clogged up floor, sort of like the old valiant push button auto shifters?? just a thought for ya? ch |

Hi Patrick, I was only talking to the guys at work about this a smoko today and one of the old guys was telling me about the Valiants with the dash mounted push button shifters. Who knows how they operated surely back they weren't electronically operate

Yes the Valiants were cable operated. The snag is that the cables enter the transmission directly (no external moving linkages) and the park sprag lever operates it's own separate cable.

Hi Patrick, Thanks for the info, dam there expensive theres no way I'd be spending $1000 on a push button setup for the car unless it was the motor, gearbox or differential so it looks as if we'll install an after marker shifter and place it as forward

yep fred they r exe?? But mine is going in a 98 transit,with 308t400, and i got the transit for 7k and it is now a great camper, and if the whole lot costs me say 12k then it dont matter? and it will be sooper dooper? and what i want? sort of back to th |
