Guys,

Just curious, with the GTS Caps which go on the wheels in the centre, i know there is the short and long tail for HQ and other H models.

The question i have, is some caps have the screw on plates at the rear and others have the spring clips.

Does this signify replica against original?

Thanks

Jamie

the 3 clip type is the original.the screw on plate at the back is a repro...there is one other type rarely seen which is a short tail.these are a die cast that is fitted to the wheel centre by peening the back edge over.they actually have a raised emblem.

After loosing two sets of originals to theiving bastards I bolted on some aftermarket caps and theyve been there for the last 8-years.
I wont bother with originals again unless I turn this thing into a show car oneday.

HQ = no tail
HJ X Z & Torana = with tail

and as everyone has said the bolt on ones are repro the clip on are genuine. the bolt on ones are a much better option they dont fall off and cant be stolen.

Thanks to all that have replied.

Explains it all simply!

My preference are the aftermarket for security reasons!

Cheers

There is a way to secure originals , use the lead ring from a any early holden manifold to exhaust , put the cap on and then the ring inbetween the 3 clips, this stops the cap from being taken as the clips are held in the open position and cannot come out
