hi dudes a little help please a mate across the road well his missus (no more to say)lol has a EB/ED falcon six auto the stock one well its done 2 head gaskets in 6 months in the same spot between 2/3 and blown the shime out aswell what might be the go with it? so I dont just put the head back on and bugger another one and what might the torque settings be for the head bolts be? thanx again it's beer o'clock Edited by user 17 years ago

check head for flatness, could be warped.

OK these are a bit of a pain. My brother blew a head gasket on his EB2. When he pulled the head off he found that the middle four cylinders had cracked between the exhaust valves & the nearest water jacket. the middle four were clearly visible so num

thanx dudes this ford stuff is scary
bloody alloy head shime plates new head bolts
every time .sorry but give me a old holden any day
and just real quick what was the tension on the head bolts
suppose to be not real tight I hear because of

Overheating will cause the gasket to blow on a brand new gasket these allow heads cant take it like the old ones.
Check your thermostat and flush the radiator. As if normal water is used in a radiator any small electrical field. which most cars have at o |

cylinder head torque : 40nm + 90degrees
also when doing any latish ford alloy head It's best to use a genuine ford head gasket but be carefull because ford sell 2 different V.R.S. kits one is an after market kit (i think is made by permaseal... useless!

thanx dudes it all went fine runs well give it
a retension in a 1000ks and again at 6 months
just to make sure it will last as long as it can
but wont be doing another ford head for a long while

Yeah I sold my EA Ford when I cracked the head. I just couldn't be bothered fixing it.
Got $435 for it on ebay.
I bought an AU to replace it. Hopefully it will be better. :-)

I don't think you can re-tension those torque to yield head bolts coz their final torque is angular.

hey i'm new to this but what is this +90 degrees mean
is it turn the bolt ahalf a turn(90degrees)or somthing else
just keen to know girlfriend has ED falcon may need the info

+90degrees just means 1/4 of a turn after the torque setting is reached
