Hi everyone....
I am going to ask you all if you know anything about advancing a cams timing at installation ... i have a 307 which i want to run on gas and i think i read somewhere that if you advance the cams initial timing, it will give better torque with gas...i have a Blu Racer cam 975850 # which is a mild one..270 280 adv duration 204 214 @.50 Thou... intake opens -5 Deg ATDC...closes 29 abdc exh 44 deg bbdc closes -10 btdc....Is it worth advancing this one ? Or would i be wasting my time?
I am after as much torque as possible...cheers

I also am after some advice for a 186 cams specs too... its going in my Gas 202 and i was thinking of advancing that too !
P.S i have a degree wheel , a piston stop and a dial indicator with magnetic base...

Not totally sure, but i think advancing the cam moves power up the rev range and lifts the rev limit a bit. But do you really wanna stress your engine like that? Is it built to take it?
Easiest was to find out for sure is contact a cam supplier or engi |

Wait, other way round :-) Retard for top end, advance for low-end. Obvious i guess since duration and total lift occur earlier in the stroke. |
