Hi all,

Have just got a VT wagon (v6) and it seems to have the odd fault when you go to start the car it wont go (like the neutral safety switch is engaged) but if you lock it and unlock it it will start happily. Any ideas how this can be fixed? Also the trip meter seems to be all over the shop, one minute it has 250kms to go till empty then it's 90kms then 180kms stuff like that, any ideas there?

Thanks

Peter

Hi peterwmh.

Its sounds like the key head is not making contact with the ring around the igntion switch barrel. It could even be that the 2 screws holding the key to its remote head are loose.

The fact that you can reset the immobiliser with the rem

very common for fuel level sender in tank to go crazy in between about 3/4 to 1/8 of tank when starting to die. best bet is to replace it and while you're there replace fuel pump too.

Ended up the key was loose and the contacts dirty on the ignition barrel. Cleaned them up and no problem now. Next problem is my spare key must have a flat battery as it won't open the doors (but works fine in the lock and will open the car that way), y

Hi Peter.

You need a new key head & then it needs to be programmed. Prices vary depending on genuine key or aftermarket & who programs it.

A VT wagon should have a 2 button key head which we do for $88 (supplied & programmed - genuine).
