My wife drives a VL commodore and recentlyu started to cough and sputter at idle and if you put your foot down it hesitates and wont accelerate properly its like it has a leed removed but all that is new. i read the computer and it said airflow meter and crank angle sensor, which i replaced and did not change a thing. i put a new computer in and that made it worse(its auto and i put an auto computer in). also while i drive all the lights on the computer constantly flash and if i put my foot down which is when it really plays up all the lights on it go out? some days it wont idle unless the aircon is on and puting some load on the engine? somedays it idles perfect and drives nice.
Can somone help im going crazy and mechanics are no help!!
All injectors are working.

Hi bundeybluedog.

The most common item causing these issues on a VL is the air mass meter.

The once smooth & reliable VL Nissan 6-cylinder has proved to be a very unreliable heap of sh#t when they get old,

Hi Guys.

What you say HQ Sand Man is all possible. All these items & more give dramas on VLs, but the symptoms he gave (hesitation) leads me to think it is the air mass meter.

Hi Guys.

Yes, an LPG backfire will destroy a hot wire air mass sensor.

Cheers Doc ... Would that be the cause of not starting on gas , or could it be both as to the running problems it has ??
