was just watching report about peak oil, they say it is serious problem? worse than climate change, and will hit us sooner??
so should we all, as a lobby be pushing for electric cars, now,?? and also pushing for more lpg, and lng,
because of all the countries in the developed world, australia, is a very big nation, and public transport is not viable?
your thoughts??

So who's checking our oil level if the sump is in Bass Strait & all the dipsticks are in Canberra?

Ive looked into peak oil for more than 2 yrs. Ive watched how China is dealing with every country that has it. Even sudan,chad,iran. And when the Americans want to put santions on these countries for the way they treat there people and how the weapons the

Think of it this way it took 10 barrels of oil to produce and transport the food you eat each year.
Chemicle fertilizers and pesticides are petrolium based.
Tractors trucks and plasitic all take oil.
You pick the food up in your car.
You may even cook
If its not broke it will be soon

And you know the worst of it?
No-one that matters is preparing for this on a large scale. Plenty of people are doing what they can for themselves. But no-one in government are preparing (or at least publicising that they are preparing) contingency plans.

Yep Byron the goverment doesnt care. They are at the top as far as pay and will be able to afford the fuel where many of us wont.

If there was a major conservation effort and every new car had strick guidelines for fuel consumpton we could prolong the
