hey guys i m mick.new on here just a quick q does anyone know why i have lost 1st and 4th gear in my atuo vr holden ute its driving me mad any help would be good cheers

hows it goin mick, on a vr auto 4l60e first and fourth gear dont share any clutch packs or bands exclusively with each other, What may have happenned is you could lose 2nd and 4th if the 2-4 band is not operating properly or the reaction sungear shell has

Christoss is on the money have a mate with VR/VS with the same problem
and has been told that one of the solonoids was faulty so
his getting it done next week but its not being driven now dont
know what damage might be done better safe than sorry

yeah thanks guys i put it on a computer and its comin up with fault codes 66 67 81 82 will it hurt it takin off in 2nd for now as i need a can to get to work in

should be ok, fail safe for these autos is third gear so 2nd gear take off won,t worry it. Just dont push it hard on take off as extra time with torque convertor on stall speed produdes more heat in trans fluid... All the best

hey thanks christoss for your help to it to the atuo shop today and they said everything in the gear box is fine and they said it has to be a elect fault is there as there is power getting down to the box but not sending info to the computer

Hi Mick,
Probably got nothing to do with your problem, but I was surprised a few months back, when my VR auto transmission started slipping on takeoff, then about 30 mins further on it went into third gear and wouldnt change up or down, I started panicki

yeah hey russ and guys for your help ok i think it get the hole alternator thing but i am not havin any starting problems did u it has been about 5 days now and still starts fine as i drive it to work gee i hope it is something simple like that russ

ok update guys had the battery and alternator test there fine and i changed the computer still nothing thinking i might change the hole wirring harness
