could someone please tell me what type of paints were used on the 1987 XF fairmonts? i know its a holen forum though. enamel, 2pak or acrylic?

I think it was a special blend called
coverupthefordcrappas
made with a mix of water and acid to really promote the rust growth

Considering Ford used the same local paint suppliers as Holden, it is not necessarily a "ford only" question.

However, more info is needed on why you want to know the type of paint used - is it for restoration purposes, repair work on an original car,

Thanks for the reply commodoore nute i have posted questions on the ford and dont realy get much reply like i do from you guys. It just for a respray the car apears to be the origanal gold colour and he wants to respray with an acrylic paint i just wanted

Yep Ford went from acrylic to two pack paint during the EA model run.


It shi ts me to tears when the media & state politicians refer to the Federal Go

Sorry guys, Ford have always been enamel, all their metallics up to the late 80s early 90s were single layer with no clear, Holden was acrylic up the mid VR commodore and now are 2pac enamel. Holden was one of the only car manufactures to use acrylic that

in july 87 it was changed to 2pac clear on metallics to run into the EA model.
