Hi guys,

I'm considering buying a tidy original WB Kingswood ute that doesn't have air. If I get it I'd like to fit it with factory air. Has anyone done this to a HQ-WB using a donor car or is it too hard?

I shouldn't have too much trouble with the wiring and mounting of compressor and condensor, but I'm not sure about the rest. It is a 253 and I'm hoping the engine won't have to come out as its in the way of the accumulator and other firewall components. I understand the dash will have to come out. I don't want to go down the path of aftermarket underdash air conditioning.

Any help greatly appreciated!
Rhys

Providing you get everything it should be easy or even better have the donor car alongside and transfer it over. I am fitting factory a/c to my HQ coupe with hz dash and with the car in pieces its a lot easier. Make sure there are 2 of you when yo

you have to remove the left side fender as the fan hits on it when you try to remove the heater box, I removed the 3 bolts that hold the guard to the inside at the rear and the bolts along the top of the guard and pulled it out, but it depends how you fel

hi rhys
in addition to the above, I'd only add that don't fit a Commodore blower fan to the WB - Although they fit and look like they'd do the job, the vanes are reversed, and the air coming through the dash vents wouldn't cool a flea ... good luck with

When you pull everything out of the way on the WB and have the donor car next to it (or a donor firewall which is how i've done it), you'll see the dimples where the holes have to be. There are 3 x dimples over under the heater box that when drilled to ab

Hi all,
Thanks A LOT for all the useful information, greatly appreciated. It sounds quite do-able with a bit of patience and all the parts required.

Hi Luke in SA.

Most of the interior a/cond parts from a WB Statesman will not suit the WB commercials.

He is better off using an HJ, HX or HZ as the donor, rather than a WB Statesman. Then, the only unique parts will be the condenser & mounts. All t
