Im at a loss as to where to mount the fuel pump and fuel damper on the panel van. The pick up on the tank is mid mounted and the ideal place would be to mount the pump off the floor near the tank using the original brackets but this would mean the pump has to suck up hill. I assume that the pump needs a certain amount of gravity fed fuel to work and mounting it high wont allow this. The other alternative is to mount it on the chassis down low and put the fuel filter up near the tank and hop that a residual amount of fuel remains in the line and filter to keep the pump primed. OR do I fit a primer pump into the tank to feed the efi pump and if so how do I wire it up? Open to many and all suggestions, I know a WB ute was done but never mentioned where the pump was mounted. Thanks All.

Get up underneath and have a look for somewhere to mount it on the crossmember just in front of the tank. I looked at this for my tonner, but the tonner is longer in this area so it may ot suit the van/ute. I also looked at fitting a VN V8 tank in place o |

My old XE wagon had two fuel pumps one in tank to prime and a main pump in front of the tank. I had an issue with the pickup sucking air & Ford were too hopeless to be able to supply parts for it. I ended up replacing the whole pickup pump and assem Edited by user Wednesday, 5 December 2007 11:20:24 PM(UTC)

While it was far from perfect, I positioned my fuel pump in the crossmember that runs behind the cab and this kept it safe from rocks etc from dirt roads and ran the power wire along with the fuel sender wire. I used the original 5/16" pick-up in the send

I too mounted the pump in the crossmember and put the filter in the fuel line just above the brake proportioning valve just behind the door on the chassis, ran a new line off another car I had wrecked through for fuel and used the original line for the r
