Hi again,

Just had the aircon regassed on the WB Stato with factory fitted air. Now the aircon is in good working order (according to the aircon mechanic), but it won't blow air out the vents, up to the demister is great, down to the floor is great, but out the vents it's only a trickle. Where would I start to source this fault? I'm guessing it's a vacuum fault??

Gday Peter,

I had a similar problem with my WB Caprice when I got it. Although mine was just more than trickling out, but speed number 4 was about what 2 is normally. I think you'll find that the vent piping to the floor and demister is much smaller so

Hi Peter

The face level air flow in WB Statesmans is different to all other HQ/WB factory a/conds.

They have 2 vacuum diaphragms (not just 1) & their failure rate is quite high. Locate the 2 hoses that go to these 2 diaphragms & suck on them to see

Dr Terry,

If one of these vacuum diaphragms fail does it mean that only half the air will get through the vents? When I have the fan speed set to maximum on my WB Caprice, the air flow is moderate, but not as good as it should be.

Do they still make

Hi peter.

Yes, if 1 fails you get less air flow. But its a bit more complicated than that, because if 1 diaphragm leaks, then the other will be affected as well.

They are no longer available new.

The WB diapragms are always dead, if you buy some

Thanks Dr Terry,

Do you offer an exchange service or if not let us know where they can be re-built?

there is actually 3 diaphrams on wb statesmans...2 smaller type which are the same as hq to hz and 1 larger type which is unique to the wb statesman and is usually the problem child for air flow as it opens the main vents..
