another classic diff question, from yours truly

well got au diff in place,
when i took it out, i cut a pipe coming out of the top of it,? i thought it might have been some sort of sensor something or rather,? does anyone know what it is, it was only rubber. did not look to where it was running too,

was there a rubber pipe like that coming out of the top of the Transit diff?

but there is a funny lookin rubber dome thingy. dont know what that is either?

Hi Guys.
It's a vent hose. Fords have had these since JC was a young boy.
Put a new hose on it & let it run up into a chassis rail or similar. If you let it be, you will end up with a small leaky oil mess.

Hi Guys.
Its a vent hose. Fords have had these since JC was a young boy.
Put a new hose on it & let it run up into a chassis rail or similar. If you let it be, you will end up with a small leaky oil mess.

haha, sorry mate, thats what i wouldve done. cant you block it up like every other diff in the world? or better still, get a 9 inch.

yes i can block it off,
as for the 9inch, i already got one of them, but in the car?? hhmmm?
$128 for diff, $100>$150, fur tailshaft, $ 20 for brackets, and a few days of me pissfartin around,,,a 9inch was going to cost me $1200, and i sti |

Don,t block it off guys. The diff needs a breather. You risk increased seal problems if you do not have a breather. The diff will pressurize as it heats up with use if you do not have a breather in it. Do as Dr Terry said and put a new hose on it and put

i think you did FB. just having a play. but if you did have a nine inch, you could have a huge horsepower motor in there too.
i can just see it now, a 9 second Transit.

There was one of those around in the 80's. I remember one of the mags doing an article on it. Article was called "Rapid Transit". It was actually a track car, not a drag car too.
