Peter Brock went on record as saying the best was the VL commodore for family car.

I reckon the EH was a standout, holden basically ran with the same motor the EH had for over 20 years after.
and the EH drove very well.
The EH had the highest sales
Old holdens brought on the spot, quick decision, cash paid.

I agree on HK GTS. Probably not the best car, but the best looking. A9X/UC for best handling. HZ GTS or Premier for nicest to drive (in 5L form). This is all for early stuff of course - I don't think you could beat a V spec VE Calais in most departments.

Best overall out of any holden ever made would have to be the VE GTS. Its very muscular looking, its also the most powerful holden ever built. it gets my vote.

If nissan motorsport is nismo, then doesnt that make honda motorsport H

It would be interesting to see in 30 to 40 years time if the VEs will be alive?
I must admit as a Ford man I certainly prefer the HG HK HT Monaro style the most. There is nothing like a classic 2 door V8 seen on the streets.

Going on sales info the HQ Series was most popular, For me it was and still is HQ 350 Statesman. Had power, style, creature comforts, very roomy, great luggage capacity, and was value for money.

Remember reading somewhere that our gm cars in the seventies were often better built than gm cars in the USA. Nice to see the HZ gts is mentioned, wish i bought one when they were cheaper.

outright honours for me goes to V1 monaro... for its jawdropping debut at the international motorshow and the the way a classic aussie muscle car was reinvented...

for a classic you cant go past HK GTS Bathurst 350... built for speed not for comfort...
Drive carefully! Remember, it's not only a car that can be recalled by it's maker
