i need help i have $4500 to spend on a new engine to replace my clapped out 308 and th400in my HZ 1 tonner. which way should i go i have thought about vs 5ltr conversion i can get hold of one with a tranny for $3300 but is it as easy as bolting it in and away i go will my cuurent th400 cross member match the new tranny is there anything else i need to know, getting an engineers certificate how much could that cost? how difficult could that be as the car is unreged and will be going for a rwc with the new engine. i thought about getting a 350chev create long motor carby asperated. i realy dont know which way to go the car will be a daily driver i do want to be able to get in and hit the key and know it will fire every time which is why i'd like to go with the Vs 5ltr but i dont want to spend $3300 on the engine trans and the find out i need to spend another $3000 to get it on the road. any help would be much appreciated i would have liked to have with the LS1 with auto but i dont seem to be able to locate 1 second hand for less than $6000 Edited by user Sunday, 13 January 2008 7:24:39 AM(UTC)

Well I dont know the thoughts of others but I will give you my idea of how you should go about it. $4500 these days is not a lot of money to throw at an engine, so I would rebuild the 308 that you already have, dont over kill it just a good solid bottom e |

You'll find a complete VN/VP 304 and TH700R4 conversion in running order for less than $2,500. On top of this (assuming your radiator is OK) you'll need:
Swirl pot; Return line to fuel tank; 2 pulse speed sensor from Kalmaker; Exhaust; Tailshaft le |

My brother in-law gets all his cars put in the shop for some reason and he is getting a VN 5ltr 5 speed coneversions done $3500 including instalation all he has to do is drive it home, engine has 120,000 on the clock and has 6 month waranty. if he did it |

Also forgot you need to get a brass T-piece off the manifold of a Holden 6 so you can put a T in the oil pump sender hole and run the EFI pressure sensor and your guage sender.
