Hi can some one refresh my memory, i have just brought 4/95 vs comm for a frend of mine to use for a while, did they come with the ecotech motor or was it latter in the series, the engine is lg2...

This one is bit strange.

The VN to VR V6 option number is LG2.

The VS to VY V6 is called the ECOTEC & is option number LN3.

4/95 is the very first month of VS production.

So, the question is 'what is your car?' Is it a really a

thanks Dr Terry for that info, this car has thrown me a bit because its been debadged no engine cover lowered, extractors,yes the throttle body is on the passenger side middle,the vin says its vs dealer paper work says its a vs but lg2 on the id plate tel

its definitely an ecotec, there were some sloppy factory tolerances at holden back then. dont know whether theyve cleaned that up or not.


If nissan motorsport is nismo, then doesnt that make honda motorsport Homo?

Cheerz Boom, there seems to be a lot of sloppy work in factory for a while now datting back to some early holdens, i have a few classics and some of the blunders you read on old holden site makes you think what drugs were they on back then, lol...

Terry, my 7/96 VS2 V6 has LG2 on the plate too - and it's most definately an ecotec!
I think Holden kept using LG2 on the VS ecotec, and changed to the LN3 code only when the VT came out - might be worth investigating & checking it.

haha, yeah i thought they were referring to 253s as well, when i first joined the SC forum. I think its the magazines fault, as thats how they refer to it in the publication.

By the way, ripper of an article you wrote a few issues ago on originality,

what does hosking actually do these days apart from spend money on his VP?
