Just pulling apart an LH SLR. It has L34 flares, but just noticed that whilst the rear doors look like original "flared" doors as they have the captive nuts in the skin, the doors have intrusion bars. Does this mean they are A9X doors?

Also, was a 3.08:1 diff optional on an LH SLR5000 or were they all 2.78:1?

Not with factory flares.

Does anyone know how to pick the date codes on Holden doors? The codes are different to normal date codes. These end in G7 and H7 which I assume means July and August 1977, so could well be A9X doors.

Its an LH so it cant be an A9X. And it has centre console mounts so it cant be an L34.

can you explain the captive nut..is it a nut welded to the door skin or is more like a pop rivet with a thread down the middle..a pic maybe?

yeah, they sound like they're original, maybe the previous owner used it for motorsport?

all cars had to have side intrusion bars fitted i think from 1977 as part of new safety ADRs ...
