Hi Im now concerned that my radiator is not from a v8.

http://img411.imageshack...hp?image=mvc046fmx7.jpg

I brought it from a guy who said it was for a v8 and I told him I had a chev . He said it would be fine with that.

It was brand new and it showed as it wasnt painted and the inside was clean as.

I drove the car just before with my new thermostat in which is a 160farinheight one or about 75celius or so.

My temp gauge when I got back was on full but im not sure if its working correctly.

I then turned the engine off and then back on to see if the temp would go to full again but it didnt even move. Maybe my sender. I think I over tightened it when I put it in not sure if that would damage it or not. The thread isnt stripped at all.

I then took temp gauge out of the car and hooked it up manually one to the battery positve where it says pink 12v and the other one I hooked to the sensor. I then earthed the metal strip to the negitive on the battery.

I let the car idle for awhile and watched the gauge but it only went up about 10mm prob less than a quarter.

I then heard a noise coming from the engine and quickly turned it off.
Just a taping noise hard to explain.
When I turned it off the engine stopped and then turned the other way.
I slowly undid the cap and let out the pressure. it didnt come out and it wasnt boiling. However I do have a 50 50 mix of antifreeze in there.

When I drained the radiator the other day I got about 8.5litres or one of those cheap plastic buckets that cost about 1 buck that was about 1.5 inches from the top of the bucket so im guessing about that much litres but I could check with empty bottles of soft drink to see how much was in there.

Ive got a pic here of the radiator but its got the surround on it so hard to see much.

Im thinking of biting the bullet and buying a bigger radiator as im real scared of cooking the engine.

What do you guys think of all of the above. Almost thought id sorted it all out ;(

Also I forgot to say that when I turned it off the first time and then the key back on. I tried to start it but it didnt turn over or even try. it was like the key wasnt turned far enough but it was.
And i checked like 3 times to make sure it was in park. After about 5 mins it then turned over and started.

V8 and 6cyl 3 row are the same radiator with the spouts on opposite corners. So if it's a HQ-HZ 3-row it makes no difference. Did you put Chev sized spouts (inlets) on the radiator before using it?

If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords?

The pipe outlets that are on it fit the statesman 350 chev radiator hoses that I got from a parts outlet.

Although they are a bit short and really I should extend them with a piece of stainless tube after cutting them so there would be less stress on t

I took the radiator to a shop and they said its fine for a 308 size engine but the pipes are to far apart for a 350chev.

By the sounds of it you get different size pipes and different spaces between them.

He quoted me 500nz for a new 4core one. My
