My HT GTS (350) currently has HQ front Disc callipers (girlock). I've been looking at my HK GTS and the brakes have been changed to HX (PBR). The HX callipers have slightly smaller pads then the HQ callipers. Even so, which is the better calliper to run on my HT GTS?

Also where can i get HQ discs with HT pattern?

Hi tanart

There are 4 different calipers in the HQ to HZ series.
1. PBR cast iron - 1971 to 11/1976
2. Girlock cast iron - 1971 to 11/1976
3. PBR alloy - 12/1976 to 1980
4. Girlock alloy - 12/1976 to 1980

IMHO the old PBR cast iron are the best

Thanks for the info. However both my Girlock and PBR have seized pistons, because theyve been sitting around for 4 years off the car. Also more autoshops stock seal kits for PBR rather than Girlock.

Hi tanart

Seized pistons are common, I have to remove them often when overhauling calipers.

I stock plenty of seals for all of these calipers, Ive never found it more difficult to source one or the other. Both these companies are now one.

tanart you will have to blow the pistons out with compressed air place a piece of wood in front of the piston so as not to damage it check the piston for pits and or rust on the outside if they either or both they will have to be replaced if you need new

I got my new HQ disks with HK stud pattern from Hoppers Stoppers.

Worked a treat. BUT there is a hitch. You can not run HK wheels. They snag on the caliper. I had to get HK wheel made with HQ offset so they would clear. Not sure if HT or HG wheels
