Hello all. How do i identify whether my chevy 350 has a long or short water pump?

Short water pump sits right up close to the timeing chain cover. Long water pump has a fair gap between the pump and timeing cover
IF YOU WANT MORE INCHES STROKE IT!!!

A Chev SHORT Water Pump measures approx 144mm from the front of the hub (where the pulley bolts on) to the back of the water pump (where it bolts up to the engine block).

The LONG Pump is quite a bit longer.

It is MUCH easier to fit a Short Pump in

I have a short alloy pump in my HQ and it works a treat. The alloy really helps suck the heat out of the motor too rather than my old cast iron pump witch i'm sure used to hold in a lot of heat. I noticed the difference on the gauge, seem to drop a few de

I have a no name pump on my chev. Any idea why I wouldnt want it ???

Cause most of them are SH1T. Bad water flow and i know of a couple where the barings have failed and the fan turned a $500 radiator into a $20 peice of scrap copper...
