aNYONE TELL me when a car was fitted with a factory sliding sunroof (hq hj hx hz wb) who fitted them, the factory , or were the shells transported to another location for the fittment by third party and what was the manufacturer of such sunroof and who may carry spare parts for such sunroofs???

fron what I have been told, factory fitted sunroofs were first trialed in the HQ (3-4 cars)& were avaliable in the HJ & were done on the production line. there were some dealers who could have a rag top fold back roof fitted, adverts for these are found i

It is interesting when people start talking about HQs with sunroofs.

I own a HX GTS with a factory fitted sunroof...

I have the original dealer order form and purchase receipt detailing the extra $310 for the roof.

Also I had a look at a white HQ coupe last year at the Shannons auction that had a factory sunroof...

Not saying that this is the case here with that HQ, but I've looked closely at a few broadcast sheets that were claimed to have been found in Brocks. It wouldn't surprise me if someone along the line had contacted Warren, been told what's written above,

Where I worked as an apprectice one of the young tradesmen bought a brand new HJ Kingswood yellow,308,4 speed,steel sunroof. All factory. 6 months later it was written off,drunk,power pole not a good combination.

Yes people working on the line can tell you a lot, but as it only takes a day to build a car, if your friend had a sicky he may have missed one, so you cannot go of that. I have seen a number of LSs with them, plus I think the styling department ordered a

HQ Holdens were the subject of the prototype Sunshine Roof option RPO C03. As with any upcoming new feature in a car, there have to be test cars built with the new item so that an evaluation can be done and feedback gained before they are put into regular

This is a simular design to the HJ type but not quite the same, the HJ type does not hav the large underpan that yours has and is not riveted in place or some of the brakets that yours has.

Going from what I've seen in some of the promo films overs the years the paint technique seems to have changed.

Hi Dr. Terry,

I worked on HQ through to HZ and also on Torana, Gemini and Camira at Acacia Ridge. Steve is the name. A gang of us used to work in various sections of the plant. Bull-ring had the coolest name though.

Car bodies were painted on lines.
