is it true holden have changed from the 5.7 chev engine to a ford engine ? heard it on the local radio talk back cheers

Hi John They don't use 5.7-litre engines. All V8 Supercar engines are 5-litre. The Holdens use a Small Block Chev engine, which these days have 'Aurora' heads fitted, not the old style heads. The Holden's swapped over to ford style heads a few years ago.
The old holden(or should that be chev) heads had the inlet ports side by side whilst the ford heads had a different layout that supposidly gave them an advantage.

Chev have had a few different configuration heads out for a lot of years now. The normal port layout that you speak of.
Also
One is the Splayed valve head. It has ex-in-ex-in-ex-in-ex-in. 2.20"and 1.65"valves. They are predominatly for drag racing. In

most of us aren't that interested in V8 supercars, just the engines they run.

very interesting, i always thought they were 5.7 also. Now i can go bet a carton from some of my mates that v8 supercars are 5.0 not 5.7 haha

thanks for all the info guys whatching perkins going round in castrol vp or vn at bathurst on tape in a 5ltr against scaffe in the new 5.7 chev commodore thats why i thought they were 5.7 now
