Does anyone know which Quadrajet is better for fuel econ the later blue type or the earlier red motor ones.Ive been told that the blue carb has adjustable metering rods on the main jets so I,m thinking that this has got to be better.Anyone shed info would be a great help.
cheers stuie

Blue or black, for the exact reason you quote.

The red motor quads also had adjustable main jet metering rods in the base plate between the mixture screws but were a bugger because the screw carboned up and end up breaking the slot where you could adjust it.

get a blue one and drill the blanks off on the base plate so you can have play with it.
The most sort after one is the 7374 OLDsmobile 455 carb with a slash cut breather @ 800 cfm.
they go for about $2K US on EBAY.

A1 Bogan.
Old holdens brought on the spot, quick decision, cash paid.
