Hey guys.
got an 6 cyl XY fairmont and wanna put the 351C / FMX / 9" in it outta a ZJ fairlane.

The problem is, will an FMX fit into the XY trans tunnel?

will the diff swap be straight forward?

any other tips.?

What rims look best for old skool?
5 slot / globes / 12 slotter?
i know its a personal choice, just some opinions from ford freaks would be great.

Go for it FMX will fit.
Diff out of a ZJ = XD.it should be a B/W 4 star, behind a 351, not a 9".
The last 9" diff were in XC-ZH fairlane and P6 LTD.
Nothing is straight forward.

has it got a steel plate bolted to the back of the diff, then it's a borg warner. if it's got a banjo type, with bolt's on the tail shaft side it should be a 9".

Hello Adam,
Everything will fit with the exception of:

1/. Tailshaft will be too long but the xy one should fit.

2/. The diff will fit but is 2 inches wider than the XY unit. Spring saddles are the same distance apart though. Being 351

The diff in your ZJ should be a Borg Warner 78 (8 3/4 is a Dodge diff) if it's the original 351 unit it will be a 4 pinion 28 spline LS unit probably 2.77:1.

If it's a 302 unit it will be a 2 pinion 25 spline unit no stronger than the XY one but st
