can any one help me with the flow rate of one of these pumps with no thermostat thanks in advance heath

The flow rate will vary with engine speed, why do you need this info?

i'm having troubles with my 308 and cooling everything has been checked at least twice and a new (second hand) motor has been put in the only thing that hasnt changed is the water pump i started it the other day with the top hose off and didnt get any

The cheaper pressed metal impeller pumps dont pump as well as the cast iron ones. Also if the inside of the timing case where the water pump sits is badly corroded or pitted the pump will be less efficient.

it has the cast impeler i will have to take it off again and check the timing cover thanks Heath

how old is pump. the cast impeller can rust away to nothing, stump on a shaft wont push much water.

the problem with your overheating could be that the bore size of engine might be 50 or 60 thou over standard which will make it overheat

the water pump is just under a year old the impeller looks fine i have now fitted an after market temp gauge and it seems to be running 90 plus most of the time
the block i bought the motor from tells me is standard bore i hope he is right
