trying to ID a supposed HQ Sandman ute that I went to see today.
it is tagged an 80280 V8 Belmont ute which it is L31 M21 it has original paint which looks like... Azzure blue not sure
its build dated 5/73 which is not sandman but its got a tyre placard 9930173ND not sure what the ND means... it has GTS rims GTS dash .GTS Seats.. Blank horn button On the ADR plate it has a seating capacity of 3... all very confusing
if someone can help it would be appreciated but I think its just a tarted up belmont ute.... what i dont get is why someone would spend money upgrading a your basic belmont ute...

If you're not going to buy the car, may I ask how much they are chasing for it and where its for sale as I'm chasing an original HQ 308 ute?

Hey Mark,
hey believes its a sandman ute because someone told him that the only way to tell if its a sandman or not is the tyre placard....car is original as far as I can tell so placard is authentic....
it needs paint and trim... he wants $8000 bec

haha tyre placard is a sticker. and a glovebox cxhange is a piece of cake. all hqs will have that placard! sandman or not.
seat cap of 3 straight away is no good. |

There is a HQ van rolling shell on ebay, plated 308,trimatic, 2.78 diff and its a belmont with factory chrome yellow paint code ,but its Not a sandman, good combo van though.

nope no way is it a sandman has to be from Jan/74 till 8/74 build date, and seating cap 2 , 30B trim code, an if it is L31 M21 diff should be GV2 336.1 V8 only, there was only around 100 HQ sandmans made,,, now are as rare as,,, Col, mine is staying in

When you say 100 sandmans, your referring to acacia ridge ONLY right?! which sounds as if your referring to the brisbane assembly plant.
HQGTS, if your still about did you find out about the codes for the trim, paint, GVW and the VIN (mixture of 14 ch
