since the VB/VC/VH/VK red, blue and black 308s share the same engine prefix (VT) does this mean that a VC/VH blue 308 can be registered in a VK (in NSW) without any trouble? or do they look at the date code on the side of the block?

You still have to comply with the cars ADR, so for a VB 308 in a VK you still need to have all of the VK stuff working.

Im not sure about putting a VK engine in a VB.

yeah, im cool with that, but can is it the same motor to the RTA? meaning just an engine no change?

You'll be pretty right with a VT prefix. I've even seen 308H prefix engines in VS Commodores. The RTA website does say you are allowed to rebuild an older engine up to the specifications of the newer one. That also means the external stuff. How you prove
