This was right in the changeover point from HSV enhanced being superseded by HBD for the factory power ups

Type 2 VS V8 engines (VT Spec) when optioned as HSV 185/195 and HBD 195 will have a build plate - either HSV or HBD.
These options arent listed

Cheers Mick. Also thanks a lot to Byron. I now know about 1000% more about this rig I've had for the last three and a half years. One thing I can say is that apart from water pumps she is a bloody beauty. I was thinking of selling it a couple of months ba

Hi Toddy.

Byron & Mick have covered most of it, but here's how I read it.

There were 2 production runs of VSIII SS utes, May '98 & Feb '99. Both numbered 300.

The '98 version will have the 168kW engine (not 165kW) with the cold air intake.

218hp converts to around 164kw (1hp = 0.749kw)

164kw at the wheels is rather high - considering your ute would have originally had either 168 or 179kw at the flywheel.

My guess is a happy dyno, or some serious engine work has been done.

Cheers
