Hi guys - I am urgently looking for someone who KNOWS what they are talking about - I have got conflicting answers from too many people on this one. CAN I INTERCHANGE a 7HDD transmission or a 8HDD into a 96 vs commodore which has the 6hdd box? Please help me!! The 7hdd came from the 97 commodore and the 8hdd from the 98 vs III ute and statesman

Hi Ben, You can but shouldn't! I worked as a trans rebuilder for 10+ years and any time I saw the incorrect trans in a c'dore there was problems and we fixed them by putting in the correctly coded trans. Do it once , correctly , first time.

the number, eg the 7 in 7hdd denotes the year . eg 97 model etc.
