could any one out there please clear up what the hell is going on with the early commodore(vb/c) engine mounts the v8 and the in line six mounts on the chassis seem to be of the same sort, square box with through bolt, but the star fire four has flat plate on chassis with bolted on rubber mount. how do i get the v8 mounts to work ? and did holden actually make them this way?the four potter that came out looks in every possable consivable way like a six with two pots cut off(apart for the engine mounts)

hold on, what are you planning to do? it sounds to me like youre changing the starfire four to a V8, in which case you need a different crossmember. Oh and the starfire is a 173 with two pots cut off.

yes that is correct the rest of the drive line we have been able to swap/adapt but the chassis mounts have us stumped the body of the four is great but the body of the v8 is pretty past it hence the swap

yeh, you need a new K frame/Crossmember, one to suit the V8. VB - VK will all fit. And use V8 springs and shocks. Otherwise it is unsafe as the 4cyl stuff can't handle the weight of the V8.
