hi , thinking about putting a m20 4 speed box (holden box) behine my 253 v8 and need to know what diff ratio will best suit this. frist gear is 305.1.

What car is it for, a 1 tonner, Commodore, Kingswood. The weight of the car and what you are using it for will influence the diffe ratio.
A 3.08:1 will get you off the line quicker or move a heavy load, but will rev higher on the highway.

Also depends on the wheel and tyre size.

i think with STD rims, 253 pushing a manual M20 thru 2.78 is too tall. i have inherited this combo ^^^ a few times before. Even in the country, too tall. Go for 3.08.
