Tags really mean nothing, unless you want to sell the car as something rare, unusual or in restored to original condition. As stated here, they do not make the car go faster etc. You do not need a body ID plate or VIN plate on a pre VN commodore to regist

I had a guy in Perth show me his Salamanca Red LJ XU-1 the other month.
i pointed out that his tags were different, Adel and MElb tags on the same car.
His "JP" block was a 1975 date cast.
this is after he bragged about knocking back $120K.

Give the details to The Monaro Register (Ben Stewart), plus any other details you have eg engine number. The numbers can then be of use to help others verify what they are buying is genuine or not ie making sure the chassis number on a car close to yours

the thing is, john vic, you seem to have one foot in each camp. One minute you are saying contact you for details and its not your responsibility what someone does with the tags, and on the other you are admitting it is the wrong thing to do.

i dont see how you can do a baremetal respray with them on, have you ever stripped panels back to baremetal? its a bitch of a job, especially in the engine bay, takes forever to get all the paint off.
