Hi all, I have a 308 red motor with gas equipment and m-21 4-speed which i am selling together. Motor and box still in car so anyone interested can hear running or test drive welcome. The engine has new electronic distributor and leads. Was reconditioned about 80,000k ago. Gearbox in good working order. Would suit HJ,HX,HZ Monaro etc. Asking price $1250 and i will remove from the car for you upon payment. Located in Sunbury,Vic Contact 0418 359 529 Cheers, Chris.

Hey Chris,

I was wondering what the date code (located on the top front of the block next to the timing case e.g. A123, 12A3, etc) and engine number prefix is?

Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark, the engine number is meant to be v890296p according to the rego sticker. But the block apears to have a blank tab where the engine number is. May not have been restamped after the block was decked im not sure as i have only had the car for a few

So what is the engine number? If there is no number then all the engine is good for is either a boat donk or anchor?

Or you could just search e-bay for a unique monaro number and sell it for top dollar.

My mistake guys, the engine number is on the drivers side of the block.....being v890296p. And as far as date codes go it is as follows 23D4. not sure what this means exactly anyone who knows feel free to reply.

Would'nt be my ideal way of placing my coffee but hey, feel free to buy it as this is a good, cheap, running engine to slot straight into any HQ-HZ.

Thanks Jim, Did a police check before purchasing the vehicle and all was good but this does explain the odd engine numbers. Could quite possibly trace the original engine number from the block codes or through the police. Thanks again mate, Chris.
